Transitional Rehabilitation

The newly renovated Transitional Rehabilitation Units (TRUs) at Canterbury Place provide short stay rehabilitation designed to meet the needs of patients being discharged from the hospital but who are not quite ready to return home.

Board-certified physicians and specialty-trained therapists help patients recover from surgery, accidents, and illness, and return home more quickly.

The TRUs consists of 35 private rooms.

As part of the UPMC Rehabilitation Institute, the TRUs at Canterbury Place:

  • Promote a safe and timely transition for short term rehab patients as they progress towards their discharge home
  • Provide individual patient focused rehabilitation services
  • Promote quality care and provides continuity of treatment plans
  • Promote appropriate utilization of patients’ health care benefits
