UPMC Sports Medicine developed the 5-Tool Trainer mobile app to help youth baseball players, parents, and coaches track training progress and prevent overuse injuries. This app is designed as a quick, easy way for young players to take active roles in monitoring their training.

App Features

Manage My Stats

Players, coaches, and parents can monitor players' progress by keeping track of their statistics. It calculates averages and provides alerts indicating when players near recommended pitch counts. The 5-Tool Trainer can also track players' stats across multiple teams and leagues. This can help identify rest periods, and help coaches make the right game-time decisions.

The app tracks:

  • Runs
  • Hits
  • Walks
  • Strikeouts
  • Innings Pitched
  • Pitches thrown

Build My Skills

This feature includes video-based dynamic warm-ups and workouts for improving different facets of your game. The instruction includes tools for tracking players' progress alerts to help with preventing injuries. Players can also share their stats and progress on Facebook.
