About Our Concussion Program
Since 2000, the UPMC Sports Medicine Concussion Program has been an international leader in the management, treatment, and research of sports-related concussions. With more than 17,000 patient visits each year, our more than 30 faculty and staff members see athletes from across the country including high school, collegiate, and professional athletes – including many from the MLB, NHL, and NFL. In 2013, student athletes from 27 colleges and universities came to our program.

Pioneering ImPACT™ (Immediate Postconcussion Assessment and Cognitive Testing)
Developed by our experts, ImPACT is the most widely used neurocognitive test, and the first of its kind to help assess concussion. It has been mandated by the NFL, NHL, and roughly 6,000 high schools and colleges in the United States.
