Venue:  UPMC Mercy, Suite 7E (Spinal Cord Injury Unit)
About: Join Max Starks and teammates Willie Colon, Trai Essex, James Farrior, Chris Kemoeatu, Rashard Mendenhall, Darnell Stapleton, and Deshea Townsend* for an event benefiting the UPMC Institute for Rehabilitation and Research (IRR).

Guests will:
  • Have a chance to challenge their favorite football stars in a virtual video game
  • Explore the cutting-edge rehabilitative technology at IRR
  • Receive autographs by the Black & Gold (one item per person)
  • Dine on upscale tailgate cuisine

Individuals with disabilities are at greater risk for cardiovascular disease, diabetes and weight gain, and proceeds from Gridiron Gaming will be applied to a wellness and exercise program to enable these individuals to improve their fitness and health. Your generosity will help to establish an accessible wellness and fitness center that will include the latest equipment for people with disabilities. Gridiron Gaming also will support pilot research on the impact of exercise in disability.

  UPMC Children’s Ball

Venue: Carnegie Science Center
Pack your binoculars, fill your canteen, and set off on a jungle safari at this year’s UPMC Children’s Ball!  Explore all that the Carnegie Science Center has to offer while enjoying kid-approved food, stage shows, costumed characters, family time, balloon artists, music, dancing, and more!

  34th Annual Andy Russell Celebrity Classic
Date: Friday, May 21, 2010

Venue: The Club at Nevillewood
Benefits: Walter L. Bent Fund for Prostate Cancer at UPMC  
Join Andy Russell, former Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker and two-time Super Bowl winner, and a stellar list of celebrity athletes for a round of golf to benefit two worthy organizations. Now in its 34th year, the Andy Russell Celebrity Classic is widely recognized as one of the most prestigious golf tournaments in western Pennsylvania. This tournament has raised more than $5 million for many worthwhile projects over  the years and has included golfers such as Rocky Bleier, Mel Blount, Louis Lipps, Bill Mazeroski, John Majors, Bill Cowher, and Lynn Swann. This year’s tournament will take place at The Club at Nevillewood. Designed by PGA legend Jack Nicklaus, it’s considered among the finest in western Pennsylvania.
