Accomodations
Family House, established in 1983, is a non-profit licensed organization that provides a special ‘home away from home’ for patients and their families who must travel to Pittsburgh for treatment of serious or life-threatening illnesses. By providing a supportive, home-like environment, Family House strives to make a difference in the quality of the families’ lives while they are in Pittsburgh. Located in the Oakland and Shadyside sections of Pittsburgh, Family House operates four free-standing houses (Family House Shadyside, Family House McKee, Family House Neville and Family House University Place) with a total of 160 guest rooms. Visiting Hours
General visiting hours in the hospitals are 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Some special care units, such as intensive care units, have hours that differ from these. Please check with your loved one's nurse.
No more than two people should visit with a patient at one time. Talk with staff on the patient unit if you have a special request regarding visiting hours. Please check with your loved one's nurse before having children under age 12 visit.
Intensive Care Unit
Visiting hours within the Intensive Care Units are flexible and are coordinated by the nursing staff based on each patient's condition. Please call the Intensive Care Unit for more specific information before you visit.
Gift Shops
LHAS Gift Shop
The LHAS Gift Shop at UPMC Montefiore features a large array of gifts, including fresh flowers, cards, picture frames, and apparel. Located off the 7 Main lobby of UPMC Montefiore, the shop is open from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.. It is closed Sunday. The shop also features an attached coffee shop that is open from 6:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday and weekends from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. To contact the LHAS Gift Shop, call 412-648-6107.
Presby Flowers & Gifts
This full-service florist, conveniently located at 3507 Victoria St. (across Darragh Street from the Montefiore Garage), offers a full complement of flower arrangements for pickup or delivery. The shop is open to the public from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays. On Saturdays, the shop is open for phone orders and deliveries. Call 412-647-7872 or, toll-free, 1-877-647-8184.
Send an E-Card
UPMC Montefiore offers friends and family members the opportunity to send their loved one an e-card while he or she is a patient. Choose from a selection of get well, birthday, new baby, and holiday greetings. To take advantage of this free service, visit the UPMC E-Card website.
Parking
UPMC Montefiore has two convenient garages for patient and visitor parking. People going to the hospital should enter the Montefiore Garage — which is open 24 hours a day — from Buffalo Street near the main entrance to the hospital. Patients going to a medical office in the Kaufmann Medical Building on Fifth Avenue may park in the garage off Fifth Avenue just past Darragh Street.
