Emerson's Story

Emerson suffered from recurring facial spasms for more than 30 years until doctors at UPMC gave him his smile back.

Hemifacial spasm, also known as a facial twitch, is characterized by frequent involuntary twitching of one side of the face.

His daughter, Vereta did some online research and found Dr. Raymond Sekula at UPMC.

Unlike the previous doctors, Dr. Sekula explained that there is a cure, and that at UPMC, more than 100 of these procedures are performed each year.

Today, Emerson is able to enjoy his family and friends without worry.
