The UPMC Heart and Vascular Institute at UPMC East provides patient-centered care using the latest technology and best practices to diagnose and treat a wide range of heart issues.
As part of UPMC’s Heart and Vascular Institute, we offer patients access to nationally recognized cardiac experts and advanced life-saving treatments.
In additon to routine care, a team of cardiologists — supported by specially trained nurses and technologists — is on call 24/7 to treat emergency heart conditions. Our specialists provide a full range of non-invasive diagnostic imaging, interventions, and emergency catheterizations. They work together to diagnose, treat, and prevent cardiac conditions — from heart blockages to heart palpitations and cardiac arrhythmias.
Advanced Cardiac Catheterization Labs
Our two high-tech cardiac catheterization labs allow cardiologists to provide fast, precise, and safe diagnosis and treatment. Special equipment includes:
- Equipment that produces sharper images with less radiation exposure and faster imaging times
- A 56-inch flat-screen monitor that generates multiple high-definition images, making it easier for doctors to view tiny blood vessels, locate blockages, and guide stents and catheters.
