As the chief medical information officer (CMIO) for UPMC's Health Services Division, Dr. Reddy spearheads the health system's implementation and use of electronic health records (EHRs) and other technologies to improve the quality and safety of patient care.
Since 2003, he has been instrumental in developing UPMC's eRecord and establishing the health system as one of the most advanced users of EHRs. His experience as a practicing neurologist helps him to translate the needs of patients and clinicians to UPMC's information technology team, while driving adoption of EHRs. He collaborates with other clinicians to continually enhance eRecord while embedding new technologies at the point of care.
In 2010, he was named by Health Data Management as an "EHR Game Changer" for his work in advocating for, deploying and developing this key technology. Dr. Reddy serves as the chair of the UPMC Interdisciplinary Informatics Council and the UPMC Enterprise Data Governance Council. His research interests include the impact of electronic records on the overall quality and efficiency of patient care.
He received his medical degree from Drexel University College of Medicine in 2002, and completed an internal medicine internship, a neurology residency and a vascular neurology fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh.
