WHAT: The UPMC Passavant Domestic Violence Advisory Council and the Passavant Hospital Foundation will once again host their annual conference. This year’s presentation, “Our World Today: Digital Domestic Violence and Human Trafficking,” will discuss such things as revenge porn, cyberbullying, cyber safety, understanding human trafficking and indicators for recognition.

In addition, keynote speaker Darieth Chisolm will share her journey to surviving cyber sexual rape, cyberstalking, harassment and extortion.

WHY: To bring awareness and educate individuals about the dangers of digital domestic violence.


  • Keynote speaker: Darieth Chisolm, Emmy award-winning news anchor, author, speaker, and life and business coach, will distinguish the differences between cyber bullying, cyber stalking and cyber harassment, as well as discuss legal options to ensure safety and report cybercrimes.


  • “Cybereyes.”
    Kaleen Martin, B.S.S.W., prevention advocate for VOICe, will educate participants on how to recognize cyberbullying/sexting and explain real life consequences that may occur.
  • “If you SEE something, SAY something, DO something!”
    Bradley W. Orsini, director of community security, Jewish Federation of Greater Pittsburgh, Retired Supervisory Special Agent of the FBI, will discuss forms and indicators of human trafficking.
  • Human Trafficking:  Overview and Clinical Considerations for Medical Professionals
    Mary Burke, Ph.D., professor, Department of Psychology & Counseling, founder of The Project to End Human Trafficking, Carlow University, will compare differences between human trafficking and other related phenomena such as immigration, smuggling and prostitution, as well as explore the underlying causes of human trafficking.
