What is the Blue Peel?

The Blue Peel is a medium depth chemical peel containing trichloracetic acid and a blue dye which allows your doctor to control the depth of penetration and the number of coats needed for customized results.

What can I expect during the procedure?

With each coat applied you will experience a burning sensation for two to three minutes. A cooling unit is used to minimize this sensation. The Blue Peel is generally well-tolerated and in most cases does not require sedation. Application of the peel takes about 30 minutes depending on the size of the area.

What can I expect after the Blue Peel?

A bluish tint remains on your skin after the peel and will typically wash off within 12 to 24 hours. You may also experience some mild to moderate swelling and your skin will begin to peel in two to three days. The total recovery is about seven to 10 days.

A special skin care regimen is required four to six weeks prior to your peel to condition your skin and aid in the healing process. Continued use of the products after the peel will ensure that you maintain that healthy glow and youthful appearance. During your consultation the doctor will discuss which products will be right for you.
