They are able to provide the complex care that is sometimes required during hospitalization, and a family medicine physician can also direct the care during your stay.
Hospitalization occasionally requires a specialist to lead the care team. In these cases, your family medicine doctor often helps to manage your care while you are in the hospital and through the critical transition of your discharge from the hospital.
