Toni — Physical Therapy Patient Story

Tori Anne Derks Patient Story Two

For the past year and a half, Toni did not feel safe unless she was using her cane – she was at a point where she thought she needed to have knee or hip surgery. She visited Dr. Frank Foti at UPMC Vineyard Primary Care, who ordered x-rays and immediately after viewing the results sent her to physical therapy.

She began to visit UPMC Centers for Rehab Services in North East, PA and worked with physical therapist Scott Wozniak. After a poor experience with physical therapy 30 years ago, Scott changed her whole view of physical therapy by utilizing the McKenzie Method, an internationally acclaimed method of assessment and treatment for spinal and extremity pain.

“Scott has empowered my life with the McKenzie Method of learning to treat my own back with exercises that I can do without pain,” Toni said. Scott uses many techniques including the McKenzie Method to assess and diagnose all areas of the musculoskeletal system. If a problem exists in or around the spine, joint, or muscle, Scott has advanced training and can treat many spine conditions. After a thorough evaluation the McKenzie Method was the appropriate treatment for Toni. McKenzie Method and CRS were the perfect solution for Toni’s injuries.

“Scott helped me learn the basics, so I will be able to help myself in the future,” Toni said. “I have been so impressed with the strides I have made towards wellness that I have been telling everyone I know who have aches and pains to see Scott, a certified McKenzie Institute graduate, at UPMC Centers for Rehab Services in North East.”
