Indira R. Bricker, MS, LAT, ATC
Indira has been with the University of Pittsburgh since 2021 and with UPMC since 2018. She has an associate’s degree in biology and bachelor’s degree in athletic training from Presentation College, as well as a master’s degree in sports medicine from the University of Pittsburgh. Her previous work experience includes working as an athletic trainer at Chatham University. Indira enjoys hanging out with family, friends, and her dogs, hiking, being in nature, crafting, watching movies, and playing video games.
Samuel Cervantes, MS, LAT, ATC
Sam has been with Robert Morris University and UPMC Sports Medicine since 2019. He received his bachelor’s degree in kinesiology, specializing in athletic training, from San Diego State University and a master’s in sports health care from A. T. Still University. Sam has worked for numerous colleges and professional teams including Boston College, California University of Pennsylvania, Boston Renegades Women’s Football Team, and Pennsylvania Rebellion Women’s Softball Team. Professionally, he enjoys researching movement dysfunction and correction in assessing and preventing injuries, specifically the ACL and overhead movements. In his free time, Sam is an avid runner and triathlete.
Marisa Maleike, MS, LAT, ATC
Marisa earned her bachelor’s degree in athletic training from Ohio State and a master’s in sport psychology and motor behavior from the University of Tennessee. She joined UPMC Sports Medicine and the University of Pittsburgh in 2020. Prior to joining UPMC, she worked with Tennessee women’s volleyball and James Madison women’s lacrosse. Marisa enjoys researching return to play objective testing measures and incorporating sport psychology into student-athlete rehabilitation.
Jen Verbiar, MS, LAT, ATC
Jen joined UPMC Sports Medicine and the University of Pittsburgh in 2020. She earned her bachelor’s degree in athletic training from Pitt and her master’s in sports medicine from East Stroudsburg University. Prior to joining UPMC, she worked at Mansfield University, the University of Massachusetts Lowell, and the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. Jen is a certified KAATSU Blood Flow Restriction Specialist, ASIST Suicide First Aid Caregiver, QPR Trained Layperson, and a SafeZone Ally. Her research interests include mental health and holistic well-being, student-athlete development, and community service. In her free time, she enjoys cooking, kickball, and trivia.
