Jonathan D'Cunha, MD, PhD, FACS, is an associate professor of surgery in the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. He is also the chief of Lung Transplantation, surgical director of the ECMO Program, associate program director for the Thoracic Surgery Residency Programs, and the co-director for the Advanced Thoracic Fellowship Program. He specializes in minimally invasive thoracic surgery, specifically techniques to treat lung cancer, esophageal cancer, and mesothelioma.

Dr. D'Cunha is board-certified in both general and thoracic surgery. He received his medical degree and his doctorate from Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee. Dr. D'Cunha completed his residency in surgery, as well as clinical infectious disease and cardiovascular and thoracic surgery fellowships at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. Prior to joining the faculty of the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, Dr. D'Cunha served as an assistant professor of surgery at the University of Minnesota School of Medicine, as well as the interim division head of the Division of Thoracic and Foregut Surgery.

Dr. D'Cunha is a member of the American College of Surgeons, Society of Thoracic Surgeons, American Association for Cancer Research, Association for Surgical Education, American Thoracic Society, American Society of Clinical Oncology, General Thoracic Surgical Society, International Society for Heart and Lung Transplantation, and the Society of University Surgeons. Dr. D'Cunha has published numerous referred articles, abstracts, and book chapters, and has been an invited lecturer around the world.
