UPMC DigiCon Frequently Asked Questions

What is DigiCon?

DigiCon is a one-day virtual digital marketing conference hosted by UPMC for local college students. The event will feature sessions that touch on various digital marketing topics, including content production, email marketing, social media, web development, and more.

Why should I attend?

We encourage college students to attend this virtual event to learn more about various digital marketing topics.

All registrants who watch all eight UPMC DigiCon presentations and submit the hidden code via the code submission form (link to follow after registration) will receive a UPMC DigiCon 2023 Laurel. The Laurel is a digital badge signifying your UPMC DigiCon attendance, which you can add to your websites, LinkedIn profiles, and resumes.

Throughout each presentation, the presenter will reveal a special word/code. By the live event's end or after watching all of the archived presentations, participants can submit the secret code via the code submission form under the livestream or archived video (link to follow after registration).

There also will be a raffle for registrants who attend UPMC DigiCon live on the day of the event.

There are two ways to be entered into the raffle:

Enter the full secret code by the end of the event on April 12.
Submit a question during a live presentation. Please email questions to: digicon@upmc.edu (each question equals one raffle entry).

How do I register?

After registering for DigiCon, you should have received a confirmation email with the event invitation. About one week before the conference, you will receive another email with more information, including a link to the virtual conference.

Who is presenting?

DigiCon 2023 will include sessions on a variety of skills important in the fast-growing field, including advertising, content creating, paid marketing, social media, and more. Presenters will have backgrounds and expertise in various areas of digital marketing. For a full list of speakers and topics that will be covered during DigiCon 2023, please visit our speakers page.

Will there be a Q&A with the presenters?

Yes, each of the live presentations will conclude with a Q&A session. During the presentations, you will be able to submit questions to digicon@upmc.edu. These questions will be reviewed and shared with the presenters. The presenters will answer as many questions as time allows.

Do I have to be there for the full conference?

All-day attendance of the event is not mandatory. It is recommended that attendees participate in all sessions to participate in our giveaway. Only live participation enters you in a raffle to win prizes.

How do I watch the conference?

About one week before the conference, you will receive an email that includes a link. This link will take you to a livestream of the conference. All sessions of the conference will use the same link, so feel free to tune in at any point throughout the day. For every session that you attend live, you will earn more chances to win raffle prizes. After the conference, registrants will receive a new link with archived videos of the conference that can be watched at any time.

When will the livestream link be active?

The link to the livestream will be activated 15 minutes before the start of the conference. The livestream will be in two parts. There will be a morning session and an afternoon session. The link will remain the same for both sessions. If for some reason your connection is interrupted, restart the link. Should you try to activate the link in advance of the link going live, you will receive an error message. Try the link again 15 minutes before the start of the session. Once the final presentation has concluded, the livestream will end, and the link will become inactive.

What if I cannot attend the conference or all of the sessions on April 12? Can I still watch the conference?

Yes, a link to the archived recordings of the conference will be emailed to registrants about one week after the live event. This video can be viewed at any time once it is posted. You are encouraged to attend as many live sessions as possible.
