Outpatient Counseling

The foods you choose play an important role in managing your health. UPMC Nutrition Services is here to help.

Medical Nutrition Therapy

Medical nutrition therapy is individualized nutrition counseling that lends support to other medical treatments.

Registered dietitians may be consulted for many conditions, including, but not limited to:

Meeting With A Dietitian

When you meet with a registered dietitian at UPMC, you will receive:

  • An in-depth nutrition assessment
  • Diet analysis
  • Nutrition education

You must have a referral from your doctor, regardless of the reason why you would like to meet with a dietitian for medical nutrition therapy.

You also may want to call your insurance provider to see if medical nutrition therapy is a covered benefit or if you need a preauthorization before your visit.

Contact UPMC Nutrition Services to schedule an office visit with a UPMC registered dietitian.
