Team PHenomenal Hope

Team PHenomenal Hope is an endurance racing team training, among other events, for Race Across the West (RAW) in June 2015.

They are sponsored by UPMC and racing to raise awareness about pulmonary hypertension (PH) and funding for research.

About Team PHenomenal Hope

In 2011, Patricia George, MD, physician and researcher at the UPMC Comprehensive Pulmonary Hypertension Program and Lung Transplant Program, and Stacie Truszkowski, teammate and colleague in the pulmonary division at UPMC, began discussing ways to turn their dream of racing across America on their bikes into a reality.

Because of their close work with patients who suffer from PH, Dr. George and Ms. Truszkowski were inspired to form Team PHenomenal Hope.

The teammates recruited two more friends — Anne-Marie Alderson, Ironman® athlete, and Ryanne Palermo, endurance mountain biker — to form Pittsburgh’s first 4-woman RAAM team.

Race Across America 2014 Team

As the team trains for Race Across America, they will be working closely with UPMC, the Pulmonary Hypertension Association, and supporters to raise awareness and to help find a cure for PH.

Members of the team are training for the 3,000 mile course, across 12 states, from California to Maryland.
