He received a doctoral degree in physical therapy from Gannon University in Erie and a bachelor’s degree in sports medicine with a concentration in athletic training from Mercyhurst College in Erie. Ryan is a certified athletic trainer, and specializes in mechanical diagnosis and therapy for spine and extremities, and current research in rehabilitation strategies.

Kathryn Maasz, PT, CLT, MBA, is program director and physical therapist at UPMC Centers for Rehab Services’ Peninsula Drive and Harborcreek locations in Erie. She received a master’s degree in business administration from Gannon University in Erie and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Pittsburgh. Kathryn is a Certified Lymphedema Therapist who has a special interest in breast cancer rehabilitation.​

Donald Smith, PT, is facility director and physical therapist at UPMC Centers for Rehab Services’ North East location. He received a bachelor’s degree in physical therapy from Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Conn., and is certified by the McKenzie Institute as Mechanical Diagnosis and Treatment Therapist. Donald holds a Direct Access License in Pennsylvania, and specializes in working with spine patients, musculoskeletal conditions, and treating certain types of vertigo problems.

Location: Erie (West 26th Street)

Brett Szymusiak, MS, PT, OCS, Cert. MDT, is facility director and physical therapist at UPMC Centers for Rehab Services’ West 26th Street location in Erie. He received both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in physical therapy from D’Youville College in Buffalo, N.Y. Brett is board-certified in Orthopaedic Physical Therapy by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties, is certified by the McKenzie Institute as a Mechanical Diagnosis and Treatment Therapist, and holds a Direct Access License in Pennsylvania. His areas of interest include orthopaedic therapy, spine rehabilitation, and comprehensive musculoskeletal care.
