Post-Professional Residency Programs
UPMC Centers for Rehab Services offers post-professional residency programs across four sub-specialties. The programs are funded by UPMC Centers for Rehab Services and collaborate with the University of Pittsburgh Department of Physical Therapy.
Each program has unique experiences and a specific curriculum, however, they all remain dedicated to the same mission: Advancing the competent physical therapist through education, research, and professional service into a board-certified clinical specialist.
The four programs -- all accredited through the American Physical Therapy Association -- include:
- Sports Physical Therapy
- Neurological Physical Therapy
- Orthopaedic Physical Therapy
- WomensRehab Physical Therapy
The duration of each program is 15 months and includes mentored clinical experience with ABPTS board-certified physical therapists, board-certified surgeons, primary care providers, and leading specialists with clinical expertise in the respective sub-specialty.
There are structured learning opportunities such as didactic coursework, teaching conferences, journal clubs, and case presentations incorporated into each residency plan of study. Residents are employed by UPMC Centers for Rehab Services and receive a stipend salary, educational benefits, and a full-time employee benefit package.
