UPMC Centers for Rehab Services (CRS) has expanded training for licensed physical therapists to include post-professional residency programs.
We are the second physical therapy provider in the country to offer American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) accredited residency training programs across five subspecialties:
Our PT Residency Programs at a Glance
As leaders in the profession with a diverse staff, CRS PT residents have access to our wide range of resources. We work closely with the University of Pittsburgh, Department of Physical Therapy.
Each PT residency program has unique experiences and curriculums, but they all remain dedicated to the same mission.
Our mission is to advance the competent physical therapist into a board-certified clinical specialist through:
- Education
- Research
- Professional service
The duration of each program varies from 12 to 19 months and includes mentored clinical training with:
- ABPTS board-certified physical therapists.
- Board-certified surgeons.
- Primary care doctors.
- Leading experts in each subspecialty.
Each residency program's plan of study includes structured learning options such as:
- Didactic coursework.
- Teaching conferences.
- Journal clubs.
- Case presentations.
UPMC Centers for Rehab Services provides funding for the PT residency programs and employs residents.
CRS residents receive:
- A stipend salary.
- A full-time employee benefits package.
- Education benefits.
