Program Goals

The UPMC Advanced Practice Provider (APP) Cardiac Surgery Surgical Residency Program is working in collaboration with the APP Surgical Residency Program and is dedicated to leading certified advanced practice providers to enhance medical knowledge, critical thinking, procedural, and surgical assisting skills.


The APP Cardiac Surgery Surgical Residency Program is broken down into two parts

  • The Didactic portion provides residents with the fundamentals of surgery.
  • The Clinical portion of the program consists of rotations through surgical subspecialties at UPMC.
