Located in downtown Erie, Pennsylvania with views overlooking Presque Isle Bay, UPMC Hamot Women’s Hospital is a 72 bed, state of the art facility, devoted exclusively to meeting the healthcare needs of women and newborns in the Erie region.
UPMC Hamot Women’s Hospital opened in 2011 bringing together a highly skilled team of health experts, offering a comprehensive range of specialties including obstetrics, neonatology, gynecology, breast and plastic surgery.
The hospital seamlessly integrates compassionate patient care and comfort with innovative technology. When you enter UPMC Hamot Women’s Hospital you will notice the facility is unlike any other. From the breathtaking water feature in the lobby to the unique natural accents throughout the hospital, the interior is designed to reflect Presque Isle State Park.
UPMC Hamot Women’s Hospital provided care for the full range of women’s health issues at all stages of life. A team of professionals will develop and follow a care plan that reflects the individual needs of each patient.
The first floor features Currents café and seating area, Cherished Gift Boutique and the uniquely engaging Faces of Women Wall, as well as our chapel, security and designated triage unit. The UPMC Hamot Health connection also on the first floor, offers the health library and hosts classes and events in the Lincoln Education Center, like the UPMC Hamot for Women Lecture Series.
UPMC Hamot Women’s Hospital provides patient comfort through family centered care. The second floor is home to a children’s play room, open to all visitors with adult supervision.
The heart of the second floor is UPMC Hamot’s spacious level 3 neonatal intensive care unit or NICU for short. It features 24 beds arranged in pods or groupings designed to resemble trees. In this tranquil setting UPMC Hamot’s highly skilled NICU team provides quality care for our tiniest patients while keeping the entire families well being in mind.
UPMC Hamot Women’s Hospital, like UPMC Hamot offers private patient rooms. Our third floor features labor and delivery suites in a hotel-like atmosphere. Operating rooms are equipped with state of the art surgical facilities designed to ensure optimal outcomes for UPMC Hamot’s patients and their families. Medical equipment is hidden until required, providing a more peaceful and relaxing environment. Each birthing suite is finished with a spa whirlpool bath for hydrotherapy and pain management. These spacious rooms offer plenty of in room seating for guests.
The entire hospital offers Wi-Fi internet access for patients and visitors. The post partum unit locate don the fourth floor of the hospital offers advanced medical care for women and newborns in a comfortable setting for the entire family. From the pull out couch for a guest to the private bath and room service, UPMC Hamot Women’s Hospital provides a calming environment for patients as they prepare to go home. While we encourage babies to room in with their mothers, there is also a nursery available.
The fifth floor shares the same layout as the fourth floor and offers 16 post surgical rooms and 8 high risk obstetric rooms as well as simulation labs for education.
