Philosophy of Care at Magee's NICU

Magee’s NICU sets the standards for combining advanced medicine, technology, and family centered care, all within a homelike environment.

With a design that mimics the gentle movement and the soft, soothing colors of nature, the NICU bridges ever-advancing technological standards with the tranquil atmosphere needed for babies to grow, families to bond, and specialists to provide the high-touch care that has been healing babies at Magee for generations.

To maintain the family centered care concept at the core of the NICU, the unit features private rooms that offer an unparalleled environment for bonding with baby, and all of the technology and expertise to ensure a successful recovery and start on their journey home.

In addition, families will find the Austin Lemieux Playroom for siblings, family lounge, the Emma T. Whelan Resource Library, and a family nourishment area.
