Graduate Medical Education

UPMC Mercy has been a teaching hospital almost from its beginning. Today, UPMC Mercy is a major academic medical center. UPMC Mercy sponsors residency programs in general surgery, internal medicine, podiatry, transitional year, and participates in the jointly-sponsored programs in emergency medicine and physical medicine and rehabilitation. Additionally, the hospital is a major teaching site of UPMC’s residencies in radiology, anesthesiology, ophthalmology, and otolaryngology.
