The general surgery clerkship is offered year-round to fourth-year medical students. Up to four students are accepted for each one-month rotation.

Students will have the opportunity to rotate on a vascular, gastrointestinal, oncology, trauma, or thoracic service.

They will be supervised by attending surgeons and senior residents and actively participate in daily rounds, surgeries, and conferences.

Special emphasis is placed on the initial evaluation and decision-making processes involved prior to the specific operations.

In addition to the broad spectrum of general surgery, specific procedural exposure includes advanced laparoscopic, endoscopic, robotic, endovascular, and minimally invasive thoracic procedures.
