Pitt School Of Nursing Ranked 10th in U.S. News & World Reports List of Best Graduate Schools

PITTSBURGH, April 11, 2003 The University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing was ranked in the top tier in several categories of U.S. News & World Report's 2003 "America's Best Graduate Schools." Overall, the School of Nursing was tied for tenth among the nation's top schools of nursing. In various nursing specialties, Pitt was tied for sixth in Nursing - Anesthesia, tied for ninth in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing, and tenth in Nurse Practitioner- Adult.

"The dedication and hard-work of our faculty, staff and students have enabled the University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing to grow into a world-class institution, continually achieving new heights," said Jacqueline Dunbar-Jacob, Ph.D., R.N., FAAN, dean of the school of nursing, "We are honored that our peers have recognized our school through the U.S. News rankings."

Founded in 1939, the University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing prepares nurses for an increasingly demanding environment through a curriculum that combines rigorous academic work with varied and intensive clinical experiences and a growing involvement in research. More than 8,000 students have graduated from the School of Nursings baccalaureate, masters, RN options and doctoral programs.
