WPIC to Continue Behavioral Health Addiction Services for Those Formerly Served by House of Hope
PITTSBURGH, December 5, 2008 — The Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic (WPIC) of UPMC will immediately begin operating the program known as the House of Hope. Under WPIC, the program will continue to serve pregnant women and/or new mothers who are working to overcome their addictions, while keeping their families together.
WPIC is committed to these women and their children and will ensure there is no disruption in their services during the transition period.
“By adding the House of Hope to the WPIC continuum of addiction services, we look forward to the opportunity to increase service options for women living with addictions,” said Claudia Roth, Ph.D., president of WPIC. “During these difficult economic times, WPIC has been forced to look for creative solutions to serve our region. While full details are not yet available, it’s important to note now that WPIC has plans in place to continue serving this most vulnerable population.”
WPIC, Dr. Roth noted, is considering a number of service enhancements to the present program, including improved access and program expansion.
