With more than 30 years of experience in the technology and information services industry, Ed McCallister was named senior vice president and chief information officer at UPMC in 2014. A champion for transforming clinical care and customer service through technology and innovation, he leads a team of more than 2,000 professionals in the Information Services Division. He is responsible for the technology strategy and infrastructure that supports UPMC's world-class clinical care, insurance services, international and commercial operations and research.
McCallister previously served for 15 years as a director and then vice president and CIO of UPMC's rapidly growing Insurance Services Division. He helped to build the systems that support UPMC Health Plan's national reputation for outstanding customer service and led the team that developed the original population health platform used by Evolent Health, a successful joint venture between the Health Plan and advisory board.
McCallister earned his bachelor's degree in business administration from St. Francis University in 1984. Before joining UPMC, he served as an executive at Highmark and Electronic Data Systems. He serves on the board of the Pittsburgh Technology Council and the Greater Pittsburgh Food Bank.
