University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) emergency medical technicians will administer the shots in a specially designed UPMC van that will be stationed in Giant Eagle parking lots. The schedule for this community program follows:

Date Time Place Address

Oct. 26 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. South Side Giant Eagle 2021 Wharton St.

According to the Centers for Disease Control, flu vaccine is the best way to prevent infection with the flu virus. Because the viruses change every year, new vaccinations are required annually. CDC statistics show that more than 114,000 people are hospitalized each year because of the flu, and more than 36,000 Americans die from flu complications annually.
