
UPMC Recognizes Community Partners for Promoting Inclusion
PITTSBURGH, Aug. 12, 2011 – UPMC’s Center for Inclusion has recognized individuals and organizations with Inclusion Champion Awards for making significant efforts to promote inclusion and diversity in the workplace and the community.
The awards were presented at the 3rd Annual Partnership Appreciation Event last month held at the Herberman Conference Center at UPMC Shadyside. The honorees were recognized for sharing a commitment to create a culture of inclusion in the community and championing inclusion efforts.
“At UPMC, we could never drive change alone or reach the depth of our organization or community without help from our partners. We are honored to recognize their efforts,” said Candi Castleberry-Singleton, chief inclusion and diversity officer.
Awards were given in several categories, which are listed below in parentheses. The 2011 Inclusion in the Workplace Champions are:
- Diane Collins, Ph.D., University of Pittsburgh School of Health and Rehab Sciences, and Shirley Abriola, Disability Awareness Advocate (Disabilities Council)
- All Purpose Cleaning Service, Inc. (Supplier Diversity Council - Minority Business Enterprise)
- AEC Group, Inc. (Supplier Diversity Council - Women Business Enterprise)
The 2011 Inclusion in the Community Champions are:
- University of Pittsburgh Institute of Politics, Health Literacy Project (Healthy Communities for Adults)
- Project C.H.U.C.K., The Best of the Batch Foundation (Healthy Communities for Youth)
- The Hill House First Source Center (Workforce Development for Adults and Young Adults)
- South Fayette High School “What’s Next” Project (Workforce Development for Youth)
- The National Campaign to Stop Violence: Do the ‘Write’ Thing Challenge (Dignity & Respect for Youth)
- Allegheny County Department of Human Services (Dignity & Respect Pittsburgh)
- Robby Gregg, Vice President of Strategic Partnerships Cook Ross, Inc. (Dignity & Respect National)
