Sherwood Oaks Retirement Community Announces Employee Scholarship Winners
PITTSBURGH, August 23, 2012 – Residents at the
Sherwood Oaks Retirement Community, a UPMC Senior Community, have awarded 47 employees $1,000 scholarship grants for the 2012-2013 school year for dedication to higher education in college, vocational schools or accredited training programs.
The scholarship program idea originated with the residents themselves, who wanted to reward dedicated employees by helping them with tuition payments show their appreciation for their hard work and help them fulfill their ambitions. These employees serve in food service, personal care and housekeeping.
Currently in its 12th year of operation, the program is made possible through generous donations of Sherwood Oaks residents, their friends and families. The fund has distributed $371,359 since its inception.
