
UPMC Names Andrea Clark Smith as Vice President, Employee Relations
PITTSBURGH, April 26, 2013 – Andrea Clark Smith has joined the senior staff of UPMC as senior associate counsel and vice president of employee relations.
Most recently, Ms. Smith was managing director and senior attorney for American Airlines where she provided advice and counsel on complex employee issues and initiatives including workforce restructuring, mergers and acquisitions. She has managed employment litigation and represented her employers before the Equal Opportunity Employment Commission, Department of Labor, and other federal and state agencies.
Prior to joining American, Ms. Smith was an assistant general counsel for Rockwell International where she represented the company during union arbitrations and National Labor Relations Board proceedings. In all of her positions, she has provided training to management and external professional trade associations on various employment law issues.
A Pittsburgh native, Ms. Smith began her career in employment law, first with Reed Smith, then with Jackson Lewis, and with Rockwell before joining American Airlines in 1998. She graduated from Spelman College with a Bachelor of Arts degree and earned her Juris Doctorate at Emory Law School.
