Nepal Immersion Experience with Magee Womancare International Sparks Fundraising Event for Nepal Earthquake Relief

WHAT: Students from Pittsburgh’s Youth for Environmental Sustainability (YES) program will host a screening of “Namaste, Nepal” to raise funds for ongoing relief efforts following the 7.8 magnitude earthquake that struck Nepal in April 2015. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for students, and they can be purchased in advance.
  • Pittsburgh-area YES participants
WHEN: 7 p.m., Thursday, July 23
WHERE: Hollywood Theater, 1449 Potomac Ave., Dormont, Pa., 15216
WHY: With the support of Magee Womancare International, YES was established in 2014 by a group of Pittsburgh high school students  who took part in an exchange program with Nepal. After Nepalese students visited Pittsburgh, local students traveled to Nepal for three weeks for an immersive experience to study environmental health. The film “Namaste, Nepal” follows high school students from Silicon Valley who embarked on a similar journey in 2009. As Nepal recovers from the earthquake that ravaged the Kathmandu region, YES students will donate the proceeds from the screening directly to relief efforts in the country that provided them with such a powerful and educational experience.
