UPMC Senior Services Hosts 7th Annual Celebration to Honor Senior Champions

WHAT: The 2015 Celebrating Senior Champions dinner and auction is an annual event honoring individuals and organizations that advocate for and improve the lives of senior citizens in western Pennsylvania.
WHY: Proceeds from the event support the UPMC Senior Communities Benevolent Care Program, which provides financial assistance to eligible residents of UPMC’s Senior Communities.
• Grand Champion: Charles F. Reynolds, III, M.D., UPMC Endowed Professor in Geriatric Psychiatry, University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. Dr. Reynolds is regarded as an international expert in geriatric psychiatry, with research interests focused on mood, grief and sleep disorders in later life and the promotion of brain health in senior citizens.
• Community Champion: Maxwell King, president and CEO, The Pittsburgh Foundation, on behalf of The Pittsburgh Foundation. As one of the oldest and largest community foundations in America, The Pittsburgh Foundation supports local at-risk seniors, their caregivers and research to treat Alzheimer’s disease and dementia.
• Caregiver Champion: Brian Catale, Operation Veterans Benefits, a service of Brian Catale & Associates. Mr. Catale volunteers his time to work with veterans, helping to navigate the sometimes complex process of obtaining aid and attendance benefits through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.
• Larry Richert, KDKA-A.M. radio personality and event emcee
• Entertainment provided by pianist David Crisci and the Johnny Angel Jazz Trio
WHEN: Wednesday, Oct. 21
• 5:30 p.m., hors d’oeuvres and auction
• 7 p.m., dinner and program
Tickets are available via Tickets cost $175 each, or a pair of tickets can be purchased for $325.
