Health Gardening Tips

In the spring issue of the Western Pennsylvania Guide to Good Health, UPMC Centers for Rehab Services physical therapist Michael Balandiat shares five healthy gardening tips: protect your joints, conserve energy, limit lifting, think small, and mix it up. Read the full article on page 18.

Free Throws for ALS

May is ALS Awareness Month, UPMC CRS partnered with the Pitt Men’s basketball team to donate $10 to ALS research for every free throw the team made. At the conclusion of the season, the Panthers had made 445 free throws.  CRS is proud to donate $4,450 to the Western Pennsylvania Chapter of the ALS Association.

Pittsburgh Ballet

For the last 30 years the Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre dancers have received world-class treatment from UPMC. Read about the care that CRS physical therapist Erica Coffey provides the dancers.

Therapy Dogs

A study conducted in partnership with UPMC CRS and the Department of Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine found that therapy dog visits may lead to symptomatic improvements prior to treatment for patients with Fibromyalgia.
