Community Outreach at the Voice Center

Free vocal health seminars just for you!

The UPMC Voice Center provides custom educational vocal health seminars.

We offer these seminars, free of charge, to:

  • Choral groups
  • Theatre groups
  • Colleges and high schools
  • Professional organizations
  • Corporate businesses 
  • Educators

Vocal health seminars focus on:

  • Anatomy and physiology of voice production
  • Common vocal pathologies 
  • Essential vocal wellness guidelines
  • Healthy speaking and singing voice

An experienced voice therapist and/or laryngologist from The Voice Center will:

  • Present vocal health seminars on location.
  • Tailor the seminar to best suit the needs of the audience.
  • Set aside time for questions and answers.

In the last five years, members of the Voice Center team have provided an average of 15 outreach presentations each year.

We have presented vocal health seminars to:

Music Organizations: Bach Choir, Children’s Festival Chorus of Pittsburgh, Junior Mendelssohn, Mendelssohn Choir, Pittsburgh Concert Chorale, Pittsburgh Opera Apprentices, Pittsburgh Opera Company, Renaissance City Choir, St. Paul Cathedral Choir.

Performing Arts: Act One Theater School, CAPA, Center for Young Musicians, Lincoln Park Performing Arts High School, Stage Right.

Churches: Allegheny Center Alliance Church, Eastminster Presbyterian Church, Faith Builders, Mt. Ararat Baptist Church, New Life Church of God, Northmont Church, Pittsburgh Area Worship Leaders, St. Thomas More Parish.

Associations: Beaver County Arts Education Consortium, Pennsylvania Music Education Association, UPMC Call Center, Western Pennsylvania District Chorus Festival.
