Common Hip Injuries
The hip joint is classified as a ball-and-socket joint, and comprises the head of the femur (the ball) and the acetabulum (the socket) of the pelvis. The acetabulum is formed at the union of the three pelvic bones: the ilium, the ischium, and the pubis. This includes all of the surrounding musculature which supports the joint and allows for movement at the hip.
