Briana Kost, MPAS, PA-C

Briana joined UPMC in 2015 as a Senior Neonatal Physician Assistant and Director of the UPMC APP Neonatology Residency Program.

Her clinical duties include patient care in the neonatal intensive care units (NICUs) at Magee-Women’s Hospital of UPMC and Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC and oversight of physician assistant students that rotate through the unit. As director of the residency program, she is responsible for overseeing the education and clinical training of the residents, as well as administrative details of the program.

Briana graduated from Geneva College with a bachelor's degree in biology.  She received her master's degree in physician assistant studies from Chatham University.  She began her career in the NICU in 2001 and has worked in various NICUs in the Pittsburgh are. She was born and raised in western Pennsylvania and currently resides in Westmoreland County with her husband and two kids.

Abeer Azzuqa - Medical Director

Abeer Azzuqa, MD

Abeer Azzuqa MD, is a member of the UPMC Newborn Medicine Program at Magee-Womens Hospital of UPMC and Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC. She is also an assistant professor in the Departments of Pediatrics at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine.

Dr. Azzuqa received her medical degree from Jordan University of Science and Technology. Upon completion of her pediatric residency, she earned her fellowship in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine at Magee-Womens Hospital and Children’s Hospital.

In 2012, Dr. Azzuqa became the associate medical director of Magee-Womens Hospital NICU, and the Medical Director for the neonatal telemedicine program for the Division of Newborn Medicine of UPMC. In 2015, Dr. Azzuqa became medical director of the UPMC APP Neonatology Residency Program.

In addition to her clinical and administrative duties, Dr. Azzuqa is involved in all aspects of the division of Newborn Medicine’s educational activities. Other interests include neonatal nutrition and neonatal hyperbilirubinemia.
