UPMC Hamot is looking for an exceptional neurointerventionalist to join our team at Great Lakes Neurosurgery and Neurointervention in Erie, PA. 

The ideal candidate has completed a neurointerventional fellowship and is board certified or board eligible.

Complex stroke and cerebrovascular care at UPMC Hamot is comprised of a full complement of specialists including stroke-trained neurologists, neurohospitalists, vascular neurologists, neurosurgeons, and neurointerventionalists. Together, these specialists treat the comprehensive needs of patients using a collaborative approach.​​

UPMC Hamot’s neurointerventional specialists offer minimally invasive, neurovascular care for stroke of all complexities, as well as treatment for various other conditions, including:​​

  • Aneurysm (intracranial) arteriovenous malformation/fistula
  • Cavernous carotid fistula
  • Carotid occlusion
  • Extracranial/intracranial vascular disease
  • Sinus thrombosis
  • Stroke

Treatments offered include:

  • Aneurysm coiling and clipping
  • Tumor embolization
  • Intra/extracranial stenting
  • Image-guided microsurgery
  • Venous stenting
  • Carotid endarterectomy
  • Angioplasty and stenting
  • Clot removal using catheters and antibiotics, and anticoagulation drugs
  • Intra-arterial thrombolytic treatment
  • Mechanical thrombectomy

About The Stroke Center at UPMC Hamot

The Stroke Center at UPMC Hamot is accredited by the Join Commission, having achieved Primary Stroke Center status in 2007, and subsequently maintains Advanced Primary Stroke Center certification. The UPMC Hamot Stroke Program has been awarded the Get with the Guidelines Stroke Gold Plus Quality Achievement Award and the Target: Stroke Honor Roll-Elite Plus award by the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association.

UPMC Hamot is a 424-bed, Level II Trauma, non-profit tertiary care hospital with 18 ORs. The medical staff includes more than 500 physicians representing most specialties and subspecialties. Residency training programs in orthopaedic surgery, neurology, otolaryngology and emergency medicine are also available.
