​Palliative Care Services at UPMC Hamot

The palliative care physicians of UPMC Hamot aim to relieve suffering and improve the quality of life for patients — and their families — facing serious and life-limiting illness.

We offer inpatient and outpatient consultations and support to you, your personal physician, and caregivers.

Inpatient Palliative Care Consultation Service

While working with attending physicians and other hospital staff involved in your care, UPMC Hamot's palliative care consultation services can help with:

  • Managing pain and other symptoms of serious illness, such as nausea, vomiting, confusion, and shortness of breath.
  • Developing treatment goals and making end-of-life decisions.
  • Discharge planning and referrals to community agencies, including hospice.

We also offer psychological and spiritual counseling for patients and their families.

Outpatient Palliative Care

Great Lakes Home Healthcare provides outpatient palliative care and bereavement support.
