UPMC Horizon Hospital Auxiliaries
UPMC Horizon has hospital auxiliaries at both campuses.
UPMC Horizon Greenville Auxiliary
The mission of the UPMC Horizon Greenville Auxiliary is to render services and financial aid to UPMC Horizon, its patients, and the community.
About the Greenville Auxiliary
The auxiliary began in 1907 when a group of 22 women met in the office of E.S. Templeton for the purpose of forming a "Ladies' Auxiliary." Through the years, the auxiliary has aided the hospital in many ways, including gathering necessities for patients, providing hospital equipment, and renovating the chapel. The auxiliary's most recent project was the Garden of Life.
Events and Projects
Scholarship
The auxiliary annually awards a scholarship to students furthering their education in the medical field. Anyone interested in applying should print out this form (PDF) or stop by the Sunny Horizons Gift Shop at the Greenville campus.
Garden of Life
The Garden of Life, located in front of the hospital, was dedicated in May 2008. The garden is a place to remember and honor loved ones and a place for those at the hospital to find peace and solace.
Membership Luncheon
At the annual membership luncheon, members come together to review the previous year's activities and plan for the upcoming year.
Sunny Horizons Gift Shop
The auxiliary has operated the Sunny Horizons Gift Shop at UPMC Horizon's Greenville campus for more than 60 years. In 2008 the shop underwent renovations, which included a door to the Garden of Life. The shop sells flowers, cards, balloons, and other gift items and has a lunch counter. Several times a year, the shop sponsors book fairs and shoe and uniform sales with proceeds benefitting the auxiliary.
The shop is open from 9:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturdays. For more information about the Sunny Horizons Gift Shop, call 724-589-6127.
Memories in Lights
For more than 20 years, the auxiliary has held its annual Memories in Lights tree lighting ceremony during the holiday season. For a small donation, angel ornaments may be purchased for the tree to remember or honor a loved one.

About the UPMC Horizon Shenango Vally Auxiliary

Its contributions to the hospital throughout its existence include parking lot lights, wheelchairs, beds, and equipment for several departments, including x-ray, nuclear medicine, obstetrics, physical medicine and rehabilitation, and the critical care unit. The auxiliary's recent projects include the renovation of the Regional Center for Sleep Disorders and the Hospitality Shop, the main entrance and emergency entrance doors, outdoor patio furniture, a television for the Hospitality Shop, a golf cart for the maintenance department, and a video game system for the Transitional Care Center activity room.
