What Makes Training at UPMC Horizon Special

Individualized Training Opportunities

We support you and understand the breadth and depth of family medicine. As a small program, we can tailor your family medicine residency experience to meet your future practice goals through our many elective opportunities. A strong advisor system provides residents with ongoing feedback and support to assist each resident in attaining his or her personal goals. Though small, we also have access to the wealth of opportunities provided through our almost 20-year partnership with UPMC. We are committed to preparing each resident for the broad challenges in family medicine, both now and in the future.

Emphasis on Family Medicine

At UPMC Horizon, the family physician is recognized as being at the very center of a community’s health care. Our program is active in the community through health fairs, cancer screenings, wellness training, school presentations, and school health. The medical staff, administration, and patients highly value the medical care provided by the residents. Residents are provided increasing levels of responsibility to match their experience and ability. In the office and the community, YOU are your patients’ PCP.

Friendly, Supportive Atmosphere

UPMC Horizon is an incredibly supportive place to work and learn. Resident wellness is a strong emphasis of our program. Residents and faculty gather together outside of work for fun, food, and fellowship including picnics, hiking, supper clubs, and holiday parties. We not only care about you, we care about your family, and families are always invited to our gatherings.
