UPMC Passavant Pavilion

The pavilion provides additional capacity for the UPMC Hillman Cancer Center at UPMC Passavant, emergency department, and surgical services, as well as additional intensive care unit beds, progressive care unit beds, and medical-surgical unit beds. As the first LEED-certified hospital addition in the North Hills, UPMC Passavant's pavilion led the way in environmentally sound construction. The pavilion features:

Stroke Telemedicine Program – emergency department physicians at both UPMC Passavant campuses have immediate, 24-hour access to experts at the UPMC Stroke Institute in Oakland through state-of-the-art videoconferencing technology.

Capability for high-end cardiac surgical procedures, including mitral valve repairs, coronary artery revascularization, aortic valve replacement and left ventricular reconstruction.

The main hospital entrance has been redesigned to improve patient flow. The entrance, which wraps around the hospital's signature glass atrium, provides access to both sides of the central registration area. Separate arrival and departure areas help to improve traffic flow.

16 critical care beds for medical and surgical cardiac patients.

Features:

Nurse and physician workstations located outside patient rooms.

Identical rooms – all 16 of the ICU rooms have the exact same layout; this improves patient safety, noise reduction, and family space.
Staff lounges are located on the outside walls for infusion of natural light.
Private family rooms.
All rooms are Americans with Disabilities Act-compliant and feature three zones that have been built to accommodate the individual needs of the clinician, patient, and family.
Spacious and comfortable waiting areas offering wireless Internet access, blankets, pillows, and food and beverage carts.

24 progressive care beds brings the total number of PCU beds to 54.
