Behavioral Health Network

To expand its mission of providing state-of-the-art quality care, UPMC Western Psychiatric Hospital developed the Behavioral Health network. This network includes the psychiatric services of the hospitals of UPMC as well as UPMC’s regional behavioral health affiliates and associates.

It also allows us to extend the expertise and commitment of its premier services throughout western Pennsylvania.

UPMC Northwest

Venango County

In Venango County, UPMC Northwest provides Inpatient and Outpatient Mental Health Services, as well as Outpatient Drug and Alcohol Treatment. Currently, services are offered at the Oil City Campus, but in the fall of 2004 they will be offered at the new facility in Cranberry.

The new Behavioral Health Inpatient Unit will have 28 beds, as opposed to 15 currently, with 10 adolescent and 18 adult/geriatric beds. The new inpatient unit will be patterned after the world renowned programs at UPMC Western Psychiatric Hospital. A team of highly specialized professionals will be working with the patient and their family in order to return them to an optimal level of functioning.

Outpatient Adult and Child/Adolescent Services for Mental Health, as well as Outpatient Drug and Alcohol Services will be offered at the new locale. In conjunction with these services is an extensive consultation/liaison service provided to the entire hospital in order to meet the Behavioral Health needs of all of our patients.

Crawford County
Meadville - Crawford County Counseling

In Crawford County, UPMC is the major provider of Outpatient Behavioral Health Services; which include Outpatient Mental Health for Adults and Child/Adolescents, Adult Partial Hospitalization and Crisis Services mobile, telephone and walk in.

To meet the needs of the consumers, UPMC employs a host of specialty trained psychiatrists, therapists and nurses. They meet with the patients individually and/or in a group setting to ensure that the most effective treatment is provided to the individualized issues and problems presented to the team. With the link to UPMC Western Psychiatric Hospital, and their vast array of professionals and knowledge, there is no problem or patient that cannot be attended to either at this clinic or within the UPMC Behavioral Health Network.

The Medical Center, Beaver

The Medical Center, Beaver has a newly renovated 32-bed inpatient psychiatric unit managed by UPMC Western Psychiatric Hospital. Staff and physicians from UPMC Western Psychiatric Hospital provide the psychiatric care on the inpatient unit and also respond to consultation requests on the medical/surgical inpatient units. This unit is an open practice model where local community psychiatrists on the Medical Center staff may admit and follow their patients.
