A Team of Professionals

Anorexia and bulimia nervosa can be difficult to overcome and cause serious medical complications.

At the UPMC Center for Eating Disorders, we treat eating disorders as serious threats to health and life.

Specialized Care for Patients with Eating Disorders

We treat low-weight anorexia patients and individuals with eating disorders who:

  • Have not responded to previous treatment
  • Are extremely underweight
  • Are medically compromised

Care is directed by teams of specialists, including:

  • Medical practitioners
  • Psychiatrists
  • Psychologists
  • Social workers

A Holistic Approach to Eating Disorders Treatment

We understand the physical and psychological complexities of eating disorders.

To help patients change unhealthy thoughts and behaviors, we use elements of several psychological approaches, including:

  • Cognitive behavioral therapy
  • Interpersonal therapy

From a Patient

"While I realize that helping people is your job, I think that you and the other clinicians go over and above what is required. You make people feel that you actually care about their health and well-being and progress through the program. It’s truly touching to have found such a wonderful group of people all dedicated to helping others.”
