The UPMC Palliative and Supportive Institute offers comprehensive, compassionate care and resources to our patients and their families. We understand the importance of caregivers in the lives of the patients we serve.
In many cases, our patients are living independently and making their own decisions, but they still value the support we can offer their families and primary care physicians. In other cases, we provide care to the patient but defer to his or her wishes to interact mostly with the family.
Our multidisciplinary team is flexible and can accommodate rapidly changing needs. We will adapt to your situation.
Caregivers face many challenges. When the cared-for person is ill or older (and a family member), caregiving can seem especially difficult. That's why the UPMC Palliative and Supportive Institute engages understanding and experienced professionals who are familiar with the difficulties that changing families must face.
Our psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and other specialists can help you sort through your options in a way that feels most comfortable for you.
We also team up with experts in medical billing, financial planning, and insurance issues to help you find ways to make your care solution work. We understand that the practical and financial aspects of care can be very challenging, and our colleagues in this area apply their knowledge to finding answers quickly so that you and your family can focus on what's most important.
From dementia care and memory support to guidance in decision making and ethical concerns, you can trust us to help you along the way.
