Falk Pharmacy Delivery Information

Falk Pharmacy offers FREE delivery service to UPMC and University of Pittsburgh staff at various locations. Please refer to the delivery locations to see if the pharmacy delivers to your worksite.

How to Fill Your Prescriptions at Falk Pharmacy

New Prescriptions

  • Drop off your prescription at the pharmacy (2nd floor of the Falk Medical Building) during regular business hours (7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday).

  • Let your physician's office know that you would like your prescriptions filled at Falk Pharmacy. Ask your physician to:
    • Call in the prescription directly to Falk Pharmacy at 412-605-3900
      (this number is for physician calls only).
    • Fax the new prescription to Falk Pharmacy at 412-235-1338
      (this number is for physician faxes only).
    • E-prescribe the new prescription to Falk Pharmacy.

Transferring Prescriptions from Another Pharmacy to Falk Pharmacy

Bring your prescription container with the label still attached to Falk Pharmacy, or call the pharmacy and provide the following information:

  • Patient name and birth date
  • Medication name and prescription number
  • Name and phone number of the pharmacy where the medication was originally filled

Falk’s pharmacists will use this information to contact your current pharmacy and transfer your prescription to Falk.

How to Arrange for Delivery of Your Prescriptions

Please note that you must prepay for your prescriptions with a credit card or Flexible Spending Account (FSA) card. Please call the pharmacy at 412-623-6222 to provide this information.

To request delivery, call the pharmacy and leave a message with the following information:

  • Your name
  • Birth date
  • Office phone
  • Where the prescription(s) should be delivered
  • What medication you would like delivered

Delivery: Frequently Asked Questions

Will the prescriptions be delivered directly to my office?

Your prescriptions may be delivered directly to your office, or may be delivered to and available for pickup at a designated location for your office site. Please see the delivery chart to determine if you will have office delivery or a central pickup location.

What are the delivery days/times?

Falk Pharmacy delivers to some locations daily and to others on Wednesdays and/or Fridays. Deliveries may be made anytime between noon and 4 p.m. There are no same-day deliveries or scheduling of delivery times.

What efforts are made to ensure confidentiality?

Each prescription is delivered in a brown paper bag that will include only your name, building address, and office phone number.

What happens if I miss the drop off?

You can arrange for someone else to receive or pick up the prescription, but you must indicate this when you request the delivery. Medications that are not picked up from central delivery locations within five days will be returned to Falk Pharmacy.

How much notification time is needed to order a refill?

You should provide 48 hours' notice (excluding weekends) prior to the desired day of delivery.

How do I pay for my prescription?

You can pre-pay using a major credit card or flexible spending account (FSA) card. Sorry, no cash or checks can be accepted for deliveries.

Is it possible to fill both short-term and maintenance (90-day supply) prescriptions at Falk Pharmacy?

Yes. Three-month supplies of maintenance medications are available (often with discounted copayments), provided that your physician and insurance plan approve.

Ask your physician to write your prescription for a 90-day supply, and remind the Falk Pharmacy representative that you would like a 90-day supply of your medication.

Is it possible to obtain specialty medications at Falk Pharmacy?

Yes. Injectable and other specialty prescriptions which may not be carried by other pharmacies may be filled through Falk even if the prescriptions require refrigeration.

Does Falk Pharmacy deliver OTC medications?

OTC medications can be delivered only if accompanied by a prescription.

Can medications for my family members be delivered too?

Yes, prescriptions for family members also can be filled by Falk Pharmacy and delivered to a UPMC or Pitt employee if the prescriptions are written by a UPMC physician.​​
