Transitional Rehabilitation

The newly renovated Transitional Rehabilitation Unit (TRU) at Seneca Place provides short stay rehabilitation designed to meet the needs of patients being discharged from the hospital but who are not quite ready to return home.

Board-certified physicians and specialty-trained therapists help patients recover from surgery, accidents, and illness, and return home more quickly.

The TRU consists of 16 private rooms and 17 semi-private rooms.

As part of the UPMC Rehabilitation Institute, the TRU at Seneca Place:

  • Promotes a safe and timely transition for short term rehab patients as they progress towards their discharge home
  • Provides individual patient focused rehabilitation services
  • Promotes quality care and provides continuity of treatment plans
  • Promotes appropriate utilization of patients’ health care benefits
