UPMC SPORTS MEDICINE ACADEMY

Our Sports Med Academy is a series of free, monthly presentations for athletes, parents, and coaches on a variety of sports-related topics. All events are held at the UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex and light refreshments will be provided.

These educational presentations provide information on common sports injuries, prevention, nutrition, and training tips, as well as the opportunity to ask questions of the experts. To register for any of the Sports Med Academy events, fill out the form below.

Upcoming presentations include:


  • Everybody Has Low Back Pain - What To Do About It
    December 1, 2016 from 6 to 7 p.m.
    During this session, our experts will provide information on common causes of back pain in athletes, with a focus on runners, and discuss treatment related to these conditions.

  • New Year Plan for Getting and Staying in Shape
    January 12, 2017 from 6 to 7 p.m.
    Are you ready to jump-start your fitness regime in the New Year? Our sports performance experts will discuss training tips and ways to improve your fitness and reach your goals.

  • How to Stay on the Road and Out of the Doctor's Office this Running Season
    February 2, 2017 from 6 to 7 p.m.
    Whether you're a marathon runner or weekend warrior, this session will offer tips and techniques to prevent the most common running injuries.
