The UPMC Sports Medicine Concussion Program Partners with the Pittsburgh
A partnership between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the UPMC Sports Medicine Concussion Program offers steps that football coaches and players can take on the field to help prevent concussions.
The Steelers and UPMC concussion experts also stress the importance of seeking the right treatment when head injuries do occur.
Safe Tackling Methods Can Prevent Head Injuries
When it comes to preventing head injuries and concussions, the Steelers play by the mantra "Don't hit the head. Don't use the head."
In teaming up with the UPMC Sports Medicine Concussion Program, the Steelers are sharing this message of safe tackling to inform players and help athletes at all levels prevent injury.
They sent posters and concussion education materials to high school, middle school, and youth football leagues throughout western Pennsylvania.
